The blank canvas is not what inspires awe, rather it is the beauty of the colors and the manner in which they have been applied on it.... So, here I am "Passing the Paintbrush" let's see what awe we can inspire together!

Lessons

Looking at the materials I brought home with me... my attempt to go digital.... will be a struggle! I had high hopes of having all my lessons typed and on my computer, so as to not have notebooks and file folders over flowing with paper copies, it seems I have a thing for paper. I have printed ALOT of lessons and have acquired many many fabulous ones to try.... now I am looking to decide how I might want to organize my lessons both those I brought home and those in my classroom.  I thought to have a binder for ceramics, one for drawing, one for multimedia, etc. and with in them divide them into categories...portrait, landscape, theme or message, etc. hoping this would help when I have an idea and need to find it quickly. I hope to better organize these things as a project for myself this year.... I had large goals last year and set out to get my room organized, centers set up for extensions to be self directed by students and easy to clean up, I also hoped to have all my lessons typed and ready as I went. I am going in to my sixth year this year in teaching art and have yet to figure out how to make time for typing all my lessons and getting the materials set up with time to spare. I hope to really get my act together this year, as it is my first year teaching as a solo art teacher, so I am going to have no one next door to keep me motivated and ready for the day when it seems that the walls are falling in on me. I look forward to the challenge but want to really get into a groove I can feel comfortable in and not feel so overwhelmed. I am having to try something different with grading this year because I just can not take a daily grade for production of 900 some kids, so tickets out the door are going to become a large part of my life this year, and I will occasionally take a production grade throughout the projects.  I have found some fabulous ideas and look forward to executing them. I am missing my partner already and hate I was out the last of the year to not work with her before she moved on.

Have bee working with Skyler on learning his colors, shapes, tracing, coloring, and cutting, turns out he is a natural and does as well as some of my Kindergartners at the beginning of the year... he loves squeezing the glue best, a dot is alot.... I have a hard time teaching this to some students, Skyler has it down!

I think I will be due to go up to the school here soon to start getting things put together! Time is ticking by.
