The blank canvas is not what inspires awe, rather it is the beauty of the colors and the manner in which they have been applied on it.... So, here I am "Passing the Paintbrush" let's see what awe we can inspire together!

Lessons

Looking at the materials I brought home with me... my attempt to go digital.... will be a struggle! I had high hopes of having all my lessons typed and on my computer, so as to not have notebooks and file folders over flowing with paper copies, it seems I have a thing for paper. I have printed ALOT of lessons and have acquired many many fabulous ones to try.... now I am looking to decide how I might want to organize my lessons both those I brought home and those in my classroom.  I thought to have a binder for ceramics, one for drawing, one for multimedia, etc. and with in them divide them into categories...portrait, landscape, theme or message, etc. hoping this would help when I have an idea and need to find it quickly. I hope to better organize these things as a project for myself this year.... I had large goals last year and set out to get my room organized, centers set up for extensions to be self directed by students and easy to clean up, I also hoped to have all my lessons typed and ready as I went. I am going in to my sixth year this year in teaching art and have yet to figure out how to make time for typing all my lessons and getting the materials set up with time to spare. I hope to really get my act together this year, as it is my first year teaching as a solo art teacher, so I am going to have no one next door to keep me motivated and ready for the day when it seems that the walls are falling in on me. I look forward to the challenge but want to really get into a groove I can feel comfortable in and not feel so overwhelmed. I am having to try something different with grading this year because I just can not take a daily grade for production of 900 some kids, so tickets out the door are going to become a large part of my life this year, and I will occasionally take a production grade throughout the projects.  I have found some fabulous ideas and look forward to executing them. I am missing my partner already and hate I was out the last of the year to not work with her before she moved on.

Have bee working with Skyler on learning his colors, shapes, tracing, coloring, and cutting, turns out he is a natural and does as well as some of my Kindergartners at the beginning of the year... he loves squeezing the glue best, a dot is alot.... I have a hard time teaching this to some students, Skyler has it down!

I think I will be due to go up to the school here soon to start getting things put together! Time is ticking by.

Summer Sun and Summer Fun!

Planning and prepping for many day dates at the park, the game ranch, the pool, and many more! Mommy has covered these babies many times a day in sunscreen and yet somehow forgot herself yesterday!  So while they are wearing a beautiful sun kissed coat of armor, mommy is hot and covered in green goo to ease the burn of the left behind rays that are residing on my back.

We have spent too much time and money at the grocery buying up fresh fruits and vegetables and yummy things to grill. I have been running again and trying to get my health back on track since the early birth of my baby girl in January, what better time than now! Skyler is enjoying riding in his red wagon and partaking of a slow melt ice pop, while Madisyn has spent many nights walking with me attached to my chest in her new carrier wrap. We are loving the summer fun and the summer sun!

Work is still in my mind as there are but a few weeks left to enjoy the life style of a stay at home mommy and to take in every moment of my children as they grow in to strong healthy individuals. I am so lucky and proud of them as they have both shown so much courage and strength in their fight to make it... they are my heros!

I hope that all of my students are also enjoying the fun and sun and taking good care of themselves by eating healthy things, playing outside with friends, and sharing moments as much as they can with their families, as I have!

Summer long awaited...

I am enjoying being at home with my babies. We have already started enjoying the summer by visiting some local stay-cation day sites and by taking a dip in the inflatable oasis in the yard. We have visited some of our great grandparents and enjoyed some new recipes passed down by them... I am looking forward to having those to pass on to my children one day.  I enjoyed getting things cleaned up from the long stay Mrs. Segool had during my maturnity leave and getting my mind ready for next year.  I have been getting my blog set up for next school year since our website host has been changed and I am not so excited about the change, so decided to convert everything over and have one location for all the information instead of trying to maintain 2 as I did last year, which was not at all successful. I look forward to getting new lessons together and some new ideas into action as we take on a new year come August. In the mean time I am getting some things together to make August much less of a shock and not so overwhelming!  Left a Raptor and going back an Eagle, still not so sure how I feel about this either. Off to the waters and sun rays!
